Most of the dogs uses have transcended history and continue to be important and useful today. They were adopted on my the migrating parties of early settlers for protection. Their sense of smell, hearing and superior eyesight allows the dog to be a great early detection to any threat. This is used commonly today as the guard dog. A major reason for most people to get a dog today is the protection they can give, keeping a home safe at night.

They were often used for warmth when the weather turned cold for a early human groups. Today, there is nothing more heart warming than cuddling up on a bed and having the dog jump up and snuggle in and fit like the perfect missing Tetris piece. They work so much better than any electric blanket could.

Hunting was a necessary skill to keep the early human groups alive, and canines were one of the best tool a hunter could have. That has not changed at all today. The dog can retrieve a kill quickly and clean, giving a distinct advantage to today’s outdoor sporting man.

It is no wonder why dogs have become so common in people’s households throughout the years. Since the ancient era, they have been proving themselves time and time again to be a necessary addition to the human populace, and they continue to do such into the future.
