About The Pet Zone
A dog site graded by someone who has actually done the work: 25 years of training and more than 50 fosters, not a content farm.
Most breed pages online read like a brochure. Every dog is “loyal and affectionate,” every problem gets one soft sentence, and nobody tells you the Cavalier you just fell in love with has a heart condition you should plan for. The Pet Zone exists because I got tired of that.
I am Aaron Seminoff. I have trained hundreds of dogs over 25 years and fostered more than 50 through rescues here in Northern California. That is where these grades come from. When I say a breed is hard to housetrain, or that it will bark at the neighbors, or that it does not belong in a home with a toddler, it is because I have watched it happen, often more than once.
How we grade
Every breed gets a report card scored on the things that actually decide whether a dog fits a home: how it does with young kids, how it gets on with other dogs, trainability, energy, shedding, noise, and how much grooming it really needs. We use plain Low, Medium, and High bands instead of fake precision, because no honest person can tell you a breed is exactly a 7.4 out of 10 on “good with cats.”
We also lead with a verdict. The “Pet Zone Take” at the top of every profile tells you who the breed is great for and who should think twice, before you scroll through a single photo. If a popular dog is a bad idea for most people, we say so on the way in.
What we will not do
We do not inflate a grade because a breed is trendy. We do not run display ads or pop-ups. And we do not write the same recycled paragraph for twenty different dogs and swap the name. If a profile is not honest, it does not go up.
