Designer Crosses

Designer crosses are not recognized breeds. They are deliberate mixes, usually a Poodle or a small companion breed crossed for a softer coat, a smaller size, or a particular look. Done well, you get the best of both parents. Done carelessly, you get a coin flip, because a crossbred puppy can land anywhere between its two parents on coat, size, and temperament.

That variability is the thing to understand before you fall for the photos. A Cockapoo from one litter may shed more than the next; a Bernedoodle can finish at 25 pounds or 90. The “low-shedding” promise in particular is not guaranteed, so plan for grooming either way.
