Each of the twenty breeds on this site carries a hand-graded report card: apartment fit, shedding, grooming load, energy, tolerance for being left alone, kid-friendliness, and how forgiving the breed is of a first-time owner. Your answers weight those grades and the finder ranks all twenty. Nothing is sponsored and nothing gets a thumb on the scale: if you tell me you’re gone ten hours a day, the velcro breeds drop, including the popular ones.
Treat the result as a shortlist, not a verdict. Dogs are individuals, and a well-bred, well-socialized example of the “wrong” breed beats a badly bred example of the “right” one every time.
